A British Pantomimeby Craig Hewlett

This is a sparkling new version of the most loved of all pantos, with loads of knockabout comedy, very funny dialogue and a host of characters including comedy duo Tone and Dubya and evil stepmother Devilla Cruel. Plus regulars Baron Hardup, the Ugly Sisters Hernia and Nausea, Dandini and of course Cinders and her Prince Charming.

In this play, Ella's happy life is turned upside down when her father, Baron Hardup, re-marries the evil Devilla Cruel. Forced into service and sleeping in the fireplace, she is re-christened Cinder-Ella by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters Hernia and Nausea. A chance meeting gets her an invitation to Prince Charming's Birthday Ball and with the aid of her Fairy Godmother and her loyal friend Buttons she attends and subsequently falls in love with her Prince. Her new family finds out and determined to end her happiness lock her in the cellar when the Prince comes calling for the foot to fit the glass slipper. Buttons saves the day and they all live happily ever after.

ROLES
Buttons: (M) Ella's childhood friend and Servant. A larger than life character and pivotal role. As there are no Dames in Cinderella, Buttons is the main interaction with the audience.
Ella: (F) Our heroine. Beautiful but put upon. She has the sweetest nature. She is cheerful and sassy.
Fairy Godmother: (F) Great character part. Ella's benefactor. Lots of rhyming dialogue.
Baron Cedric Hardup: (M) Downtrodden and hen-pecked. A smaller but still important principle.
Devilla Cruel: (F) Villain. One of the world's most vile and wicked women. A great character part.
Hernia and Nausea: (Male**) Unlike the Grimm's Fairytale, these sisters are not only ugly in their nature. These grotesques are funny as well as cruel and full of spite.
Tone and Dubya: (M) Two odd-jobbing fools. From bailiffs to bouncers they do various jobs throughout. Often foils to the ugly sisters they should be good confident actors.
Prince Charming: (Female**) Principal boy. Very well spoken. Lost and amusing until he finds love with Ella he has a storyline to put across. Needs to be confident with good comic timing.
Dandini: (Female**) Principal boy. Prince Charming's manservant. Confident, authoritative. Good comedic role.
Herald: Smallish part with comedy and lines. Appears throughout.

Bows: Small speaking role at beginning of Act Two.
