Plaza Suite - September 2004 |
Plaza Suite > > > September 3 - 11, 2004
A Comedy by Neil Simon Neil Simon is the most prolific comedy writer of our generation. His style of dry humour, mixed with subtle physical comedy gives audiences exactly what they expect - the human condition at its funniest. Neil Simon’s forte is his character development and in Plaza Suite, Simon has perfected the haggard angst-ridden male of the species pitted against the over burdened, stoic wife scenarios without EVER tipping over into the mundane. He also infuses his characters with ferocious love and respect, making their foibles instantly forgivable. Plaza Suite is actually three different stories. The singular constant is the hotel room, which serves as the backdrop for all three storylines. Although vastly different, all share the theme of love, with all of its complexities and poignancies, which will make you, laugh, cry, sigh and mostly… glad it isn’t happening to you. The Plaza represents success, wealth, and status. Staying there can make you feel like a hero when you really feel like a bum. Plaza suite combines 3 sketches involving couples in their late forties to mid fifties and some smaller secondary roles, which may be doubled.
