Boeing Boeing<\/a>
\nOctober 4th to 12th, 2013

Ladies and gentlemen, if you would please take your seats and direct your attention to the front of the theatre, where you are sure to be met with the turbulent fun and laughter of classic farce at its best. Your director for this season\u2019s opener is James Noonan as Morpheus Theatre starts the season off right with Boeing Boeing: a farce in every theatrical and hilarious sense of the word. We\u2019ll bring the fun to you; no need to worry about losing your luggage or jet lag \u2013 but if you are swinging bachelor, Bernard, you do need to worry about which fianc\u00e9e is which, from where…and when…and when a faster Boeing lands them all in the same place at the same time, you\u2019d definitely need to worry about how you\u2019ll possibly get through it all! Is it love, l\u2019amour or lieben? Ooh la la! Luckily, you get to sit back, relax and enjoy the show. In the case of uproarious laughter, please place your hands on your belly and laugh some more. It’s a Wonderful Life<\/a>

\nBased on the classic film by Frank Capra<\/p>\n

An inspirational, heartwarming story about giving and receiving, about life and all the paths we walk, about true and lasting love and guardian angels. Morpheus Theatre very proudly welcomes you to Bedford Falls with this holiday favourite, It\u2019s a Wonderful Life, directed by Janos Zeller. George Bailey spends his entire life working and living in Bedford Falls, putting aside dream after dream to ensure the right and honourable thing is done by the folks of the small town where he grew up. Up against vicious and miserly old Mr. Potter, George runs himself ragged and encounters no end of dirty schemes, dishonesty and disappointment. Beaten down and despairing, he ends up on a bridge on Christmas Eve, pondering a watery end when he meets Clarence, his guardian angel. Won\u2019t you come out tonight and be delighted with George and Mary and Zuzu and the whole town as they all learn a little something about hope and true happiness; that no man is a failure who has friends.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cocktails at Pam\u2019s<\/a>
\nJanuary 24th to February 8th, 2014

Being the perfect hostess is not easy. Just ask Pam. It\u2019s a fine art of pearls and gowns, repartee and knowing the difference between the maid and the cook. So when the cocktail party she is hosting descends into an evening of too many flowers, green drinks, a divorc\u00e9e declaring the evils of green peppers and…charades, well it\u2019s not really going as smoothly as Pam might wish. We, on the other hand, think it\u2019s absurdly charming and a lovely addition to our 2013-2014 season. Delightfully quirky, this comedy by Canadian Playwright Stewart Lemoine and directed by Alice Nelson, is sure to warm you up with some laughter; or as our hostess would exclaim, \u201cMirth! Mirth!\u201d Join us in January as we host Cocktails at Pam\u2019s and remember, we never act on Mondays but there are plenty of other days to choose from. Book your tickets soon, pull out the jacket or the little black dress and be ye blithe, we\u2019re always happy to see our guests.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Pirates of Penzance<\/a>
\nApril 18th to May 3rd, 2014

With catlike tread…no, no, more like: with joyful proclamation and patter, we proudly announce: The pirates are coming! The pirates are coming! A favourite of Gilbert and Suilivan enthusiasts, The Pirates of Penzance is a wonderful romp through such favourites as \u201cOh, Better Far to Live and Die\u201d, \u201cHow Beautifully Blue the Sky\u201d and of course, \u201cI Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General\u201d. Directed by Tim Elliott & Mike Johnson, this clever classic tells the story of Frederick, who is freed from his apprenticeship to a rather merry gang of pirates on the occasion of his 21st birthday. When he meets Mabel, he falls head over heels in love only to have his happy hopes dashed by the discovery that he is only five years old, since he was born February 29th in a leap year. All kinds of tomfoolery unfurls as we meet the colourful cast of characters and watch poor Frederick grapple with the bonds of love, duty and a most convenient paradox. Oh, Better Far…to book early and join us for this adventure on the high seas of music and laughter. And we mustn\u2019t forget, Rapture!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Morpheus G&S Junior Theatre School Program<\/p>\n

Our Theatre School program will be returning for a third year culminating in a production of The Pirates of Penzance on the set of our mainstage production in the Victor Mitchell Theatre at the Pumphouse Theatre next spring. All interested youth (whether children or grandchildren), ages 9-14, who wish to expand acting skills and challenge themselves with the lyrics and patter of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, should enroll forthwith in Morpheus G&S Junior! The theatre school program will run Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30 beginning in Mid-October, 2013. This program is unique in that it focuses solely on the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, in conjunction with our theatre season.
