This is Eric and Billie\u2019s chance. They have this one opportunity to prove they have what it takes to become full-fledged members of the police force. The hotel rooms are booked, the recording equipment is set up and functional. The informant has been prepped and the suspect is on his way. It\u2019s all quite simple and straightforward. So naturally, it all goes catastrophically, ridiculously wrong. This side-splittingly funny season opener will have you giggling and rooting for our two wannabe cops from the moment we meet them. They are surrounded by a colorful cast of characters including Karen, who can\u2019t seem to keep her clothes on, Frank, a cowardly security officer, and sweet, kind Mayor Meekly, who just can\u2019t seem to get his meeting started no matter what he does, or what door he tries. This show is guaranteed to have you laughing out loud as we witness bumble after bumble, and bagpipes\u2026did we already mention the bagpipes? Her Majesty, the gorgeous \u2013 but oh so evil! \u2013 Queen, has tasked us with telling you that you really shouldn\u2019t miss this show. In fact, she demands that you, all of your family and all of your friends, attend the show \u2013 at least once \u2013 and that you enjoy your opportunity to bask in her brilliance. We at Morpheus Theatre would like to tell you that there will be all sorts of other delightful characters for you to meet as well, like the darling Snow White, some cosmically charged mushrooms, a dedicated Squirrel brigade and yes, the loveable Seven Dwarves. It\u2019s time, once again, for some holiday, pantomime fun! Oh yes it is! It\u2019s the story you know, brilliantly adapted for merriment, mirth and a Dame, by local playwright, Charlotte Nixon. This charming evocation of another time and place takes us back to Elizabethan England, to witness the early career of one William Shakespeare.\u00a0 Our beloved bard is in a slump when we meet him, experiencing a stubborn case of writer’s block while producers demand pages.\u00a0 He forces himself to the work, holding auditions for a play not yet written – and then he meets Viola de Lesseps, disguised as male actor Thomas Kent, and their world is turned upside down.\u00a0 Where there were no words, now the words flow with ease on the wings of love.\u00a0 Romeo and Juliet is written before us, as our star-crossed lovers face the cruel realities of the world.\u00a0 Can Shakespeare survives the drama of being hunted by an angry fiance? Can he ever hope to please his impatient producers? Can Will and Viola bring true love to the stage before she is forced into marriage with another man? Adapted from the Oscar winning movie by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, Shakespeare in Love will delight and inspire as only the poetry and art of Shakespeare can.<\/p>\n

Princess Ida<\/h2>\n

April 26th to May 11th, 2019

Princess Ida is having nothing to do with men, never mind love, or marriage. She is so firm in her belief that she has locked herself away in a University, attended only by women, and that is exactly where she plans to stay. She was betrothed to young Prince Hilarion from a very early age, and her failure to arrive to meet him with her father, King Gama, could be interpreted as an act of war, but still, she is having none of it. In fact, she\u2019s willing to fight the men who show up on her doorstep if need be. Her fellow chaste and heretofore uninterested female friends, on the other hand, find themselves face to face with Cupid and less keen to do battle. A lesser known work of the dynamic duo, Princess Ida is nonetheless brimming with those qualities we love in the works of Gilbert and Sullivan: humour, sweeping and intelligent lyrics, witty commentary, danger and commotion! In the end, love wins the day, and for more than just our royal couple. It\u2019s an exciting conclusion to our 24th season, so jump for joy and gaily bound down to the theatre to join us for Princess Ida!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

Morpheus G&S Junior Theatre School Program<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Morpheus Theatre is pleased to announce that the G&S Junior Theatre School program is back for an 8th season.<\/p>\n

In October 2018, we will be continuing to offer both a Junior class for students 9 to 12 years old, and a Senior class for students 13 to 17 years old. The program gives youth an opportunity to expand their acting skills and challenge themselves with the lyrics and patter of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. The Senior class will also include more advanced acting skills and choreography.<\/p>\n

Both classes will run Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30 beginning mid October. Classes will include professional instruction in Acting and Voice and the program will culminate in two\u00a0youth performances on the set of our mainstage production in the Victor Mitchell Theatre at the Pumphouse Theatre.<\/p>\n

Cost: Juniors – $375, Seniors – $425
