Morpheus Theatre is excited to welcome our patrons, subscribers, artists and volunteers back for our 2022 \u2013 2023 Season of Shows Worth Seeing!\u00a0 In the year ahead we will be presenting lots of laughter and familiar stories – some with a twist – as we return to the stage at the Pumphouse Theatre, along with brand new seating in the Victor Mitchell Theatre.<\/p>\n

Show times are Wednesday to Saturday at 7:30pm.\u00a0 Weekend matinees are at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n

Treasure Island<\/a><\/h2>\n

If you didn\u2019t get enough pirates last year, this one is for you! Treasure Island is the story of young Jim Hawkins and his adventures aboard a pirate ship headed by the fearsome Long John Silver. In this version of the tale however we also find out what happens to Jim’s mother, his true love Jenny, her father the Squire, Polly the Parrot and of course the Smuggler\u2019s Cove Women’s Institute as they join Silver’s band of bloodthirsty pirates. A madcap, laugh a minute pirate adventure story from start to finish!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n

Calendar Girls<\/a><\/h2>\n

February 3rd to 11th, 2023

When Annie’s husband, John, dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their newfound fame.<\/p>\n

Based on the true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n

The Yeomen of the Guard<\/a><\/h2>\n

The show takes place in the Tower of London where Colonel Fairfax is wrongly accused of sorcery and sentenced to death within the hour. Fairfax hatches a plan to secretly marry a strolling singer, who now expects to be a wealthy widow upon Fairfax’s imminent demise, leaving her free to marry her lover, the jester Jack Point. However, Fairfax miraculously escapes his fate and chaos ensues.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella<\/em>\u00a0is the new Broadway adaptation of the classic musical. This contemporary take on the classic tale features Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including \u201cIn My Own Little Corner,\u201d \u201cImpossible\/It’s Possible\u201d and \u201cTen Minutes Ago,\u201d alongside an up-to-date, hilarious and romantic libretto by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane.<\/p>\n

This is a story about following your dreams, fighting for what\u2019s right, and showing everyone that the real magic is kindness.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n

Morpheus G&S Junior Theatre School Program<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Morpheus Theatre is pleased to announce that the G&S Junior Theatre School program is returning for it’s 11th Season!<\/p>\n

Junior Class: ages 9 to 12 years Senior Class: ages 13 to 17 years
\nRegistration for returning students begins June 12, 2022
\nRegistration for new students begins July 1, 2022<\/p>\n

Both classes will run Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30 beginning in mid-October.
