We also invite the community to make proposals for shows to be produced during our 2018/2019 season.
We are looking for WELL-KNOWN SHOWS with HIGH AUDIENCE POTENTIAL that fall within our four show categories.  Ideally, the shows will appeal to a wide family audience (primarily 12 and up, although under 18 is not the target audience).

February 10 – Exploring Shakespeare: MACBETH with Iam Coulter Whether you are well versed in Shakespeare or a relative newcomer; an actor, director, or teacher; this workshop will encourage you to expand your understanding, deepen your personal connection, and activate your imagination. 

March 17 – Michael Chekhov: An Introduction to Inspired Acting with Josephine Christensen – Michael Chekhov developed an innovative approach to acting which is now gaining widespread recognition. His technique is primarily psychophysical and aims to heighten the actor’s awareness of the transformative power of the imagination. 

April 21 – Character Development with Valarie Planche

April 27 – May 12 – HMS PINAFORE

December is right around the corner, and at this point in the year, most companies have a show under their belts, and the theatre season is well under way! Between G&S JR, Workshops, Auditions and Performances, we have plenty going on at Morpheus these days!  Don’t forget that Gift Certificates make a great holiday gift!

Morpheus Theatre is seeking experienced and passionate directors for our 2018/2019 season!

We present 4 quality shows each year (a farce or comedy, a Christmas family production/pantomime, a contemporary play, and a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta) at the Pumphouse Theatre, in both the Victor Mitchell & Joyce Doolittle Theatres.

Applicants are asked to submit a letter of interest and a resume with related theatre experience/background to info@morpheustheatre.ca.  Applicants do not need to submit for a specific show.

Welcome to our new Theatre Administrator

Morpheus Theatre is pleased to welcome Iam Coulter as our new Theatre Administrator.  Iam will be the voice behind the phone 3 days a week, and will be coordinating our Workshop series, along with sharing general administration duties relating to box office operation and marketing.  Iam joins us with a strong background in both performance and arts administration having worked with both The Shakespeare Company and Quest Theatre.

By filling this new role it will allow Ginette Simonot to take on additional administrative and management tasks, as our Operations Manager.   We look forward to seeing what both Iam and Ginette can bring to these roles, and what new opportunities lie ahead.

Awards, Auditions and Booksales… Oh My!

As we approach the end of the dog days of summer, and look forward to a brand new theatre season, we would like to thank all of you – patrons, volunteers, and supporters – for engaging with us in our shared passion of creating Shows Worth Seeing.  We know your time is valuable, and we thank you for sharing it with us.

We would like to congratulate all recipients & nominees of this year’s Cat Awards! The community came out to celebrate in red and white style the dedication and passion of all community theatre volunteers on August 26 at the Rozsa Centre. Morpheus was pleased to present Volunteer Awards to Carol Dann and Ginette Simonot for their exceptional contributions to our company for this past year. Morpheus AGM Monday September 11 at 7:00pm !

Morpheus Theatre is thrilled to announce the annual hosting of our completely obligatory, government mandated (via the Societies Act and our Bylaws) Annual General Meeting!

 

The AGM (for short) will be held Monday September 11, 7:00pm at the Morpheus Rehearsal Centre

We invite all interested parties, volunteers, artists, patrons, and curious onlookers to join us for this enthralling meeting where we summarize the activities of the past year (in 500 words or less), present the accounting of the financials, and elect the board of directors to another one year sentence.

 

Admission to all this comes at the unbelievably low price of only one Loonie.  (That is not a comment on anyone in particular.)
